COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course will examine crime in the Caribbean with a particular focus on the differences and similarities among the Spanish-, English-, French-, and Dutch-speaking nations of the Caribbean region. The course will study the trends in crime in the Caribbean from a comparative perspective, and the methods employed by various individual nations to help diminish crime and delinquency. The specific topics to be studied include political crime and offenses, political corruption, drug dealing and trafficking, juvenile delinquency, domestic violence, and sexual assault in the Caribbean.

Prerequisite: ENG 101.
