An historical survey of the principal ideas, ideologies, and intellectual currents in the African-American community including the shifting emphases on assimilation, Pan-Africanism, and nationalism. Major organizations and movements and key individuals who have shaped African-American thought. Examination of the impact of these ideas on American thought and culture. |
