COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Critical examination of selected works written for children and enjoyed by children and adults. Consideration of fantastic and realistic fiction and analysis of appropriate literary forms, such as fairy tale, animal fable, adventure story, and the novel of development.

Prerequisite: Satisfactory completion of 60 college credits or of two 200-level ENG courses, or Departmental permission.

  • Courses numbered 309-348 offer study of a historical period, genre, author, or literary field that is more intensive than the comparable area in ENG 300-302, ENG 307, and ENG 308, yet broader in scope than courses like ENG 350, 381, 450-460, ENG 463, and ENG 481 that are found under "Tutorials, Seminars, and Honors Work."
